How to say "goblin mode "in Japanese?
2022年オックスフォード英語辞典の「ワード・オブ・ザ・イヤー」は、
「ゴブリンモード」が選ばれました。
The Oxford English Dictionary has named 'Goblin Mode' as its 2022 'Word of the Year'.
この「ゴブリン・モード」、日本語では何て言うのかな？と色々調べてみると、
「社会的な規範や期待を拒否するような形で、悪びれもせず、勝手気ままに、
怠惰、ずぼらに行動すること」
(しゃかいてきな きはんや きたいを きょひするような かたちで、わるびれもせず、かってきままに、たいだ、ずぼらにこうどうすること）
だそうです。
What is this "goblin mode" called in Japanese? I did some research.
I found out that it means "to act selfishly, lazily, sloppily, and greedily in a way that rejects social norms and expectations without any sense of offence.
む、むずかしい日本語がたくさんならんでいますね。。。
Hmm, there are a lot of difficult Japanese words...
「ダラダラする」と説明されているサイトがいくつかありました。
There were a few sites that were described as "lazy".
「今日はこれから何をしますか？」とか、
「週末は何をする予定ですか？」とか、
「昨日は何をしていましたか？」とよく聞かれませんか？
"What are you going to do today?"
"What are you planning to do on the weekend?"
"What were you doing yesterday?"Do you often get asked these questions?
予定もないし、「ゆっくりする」、「のんびりする」、ともちょっと違う、
何もやるきがおきないし、なまけて、自分勝手に過ごしたい、ゴブリンモードでいたい、という時、
I don't have any plans, and it's a little different from "ゆっくりする" or "のんびりする".
When I don't feel like doing anything, when I want to be lazy, when I want to be selfish, when I want to be in goblin mode...
「家でダラダラしたいです」
「今日はもうずっと家でダラダラするつもりです」
などと答えてみてもいいですね。
I'm going to stay home and be lazy.
I'm going to linger at home for the rest of the day."
You can try answering like this.
